SDP Convening 2017 has ended

Communities around the world are embracing the philosophy of "open" to crowdsource knowledge and resources to fuel solutions to intractable problems. The 2017 SDP Convening will be about sharing data tools, research, ideas, and insights in order to make our own collective work better for kids. Christopher Ruszkowski was recently named Acting Secretary of Education by Governor Susana Martinez.  He joined the New Mexico Public Education Department in Spring 2016 as Deputy Secretary of Policy & Program.  Previously he served for nearly six years at the Delaware Department of Education under Governor Jack Markell and three different Secretaries of Education, building the Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Unit as Chief Talent Officer and then Associate Secretary. His team focused on improving policies and practices across the educator effectiveness continuum: educator preparation, licensure and certification, recruitment, placement, evaluation, professional learning, and teacher-leader career pathways.  Mr. Ruszkowski is the product of K-12 public schools and began his education career as a middle school social studies teacher and basketball coach at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Miami, FL. Mr. Ruszkowski holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota—which he attended on an Evans Scholarship.  He also holds an M.A. in Educational Policy, Organizational, and Leadership Studies from Stanford University.
