SDP Convening 2017 has ended

Communities around the world are embracing the philosophy of "open" to crowdsource knowledge and resources to fuel solutions to intractable problems. The 2017 SDP Convening will be about sharing data tools, research, ideas, and insights in order to make our own collective work better for kids. Dr. Nakia Hardy has served as the Chief Academic Officer of Guilford County Schools since July 2015. Guilford County Schools is the third largest district in enrollment in North Carolina with nearly 73,000 students in PreK-12 and 126 schools. Originally from North Carolina, Nakia chose teaching as a career and earned the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship. She attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in secondary education and physics. She then received both her Master’s in School Administration and Doctorate in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2009, her work was recognized at the regional/state level as she was selected as the Central/Piedmont Region Principal of the Year for North Carolina.

Nakia continued to impact the educational process in 2010 as she moved to become Assistant Superintendent for K-12 Curriculum and Instruction with Rockingham County Schools. Following her tenure there, she joined Baltimore City Schools as the Executive Director for Teaching and Learning in January 2014.
