Over the past decade, the amount of data available to school systems has grown tremendously. In addition, the methods and techniques available at the frontiers of research on education policy have been steadily expanding. Unfortunately, data analysts in different school systems are often concerned with similar questions, yet only rarely can they benefit from analyses or tools that others have developed. The same analyses to answer the same question may be developed tens or even hundreds of times across agencies. Currently, there is no easy way for analysts in one agency to leverage analysts’ in other agencies skills and knowledge. OpenSDP is an initiative developed by the Strategic Data Project to address this challenge and build a community of analysts accessing and sharing code to answer mission critical questions about education. Join us in learning more about the pilot tool and thinking about how you can be a contributor and user.
